in1: The Podcast With Nevin Steinberg

Sound designer Nevin Steinberg*, who will be a speaker at the New York Master Classes for Sound on June 5 & 6, won a Lortel Award for his sound design of Hamilton, and will be presented with a Live Design Award for Design Achievement on June 4 as part of the design team for Hamilton (for which he is also nominated for a Drama Desk Award). Steinberg is the subject of a designer podcast in the in1: The Podcast series, produced by lighting designer Cory Pattak and featuring theatrical designers in a variety of disciplines. Listen to the podcast above.

*A seasoned Broadway sound designer, Nevin Steinberg is a passionate collaborator on a wide range of live events and theatre productions. His recent projects include Hamilton at The Public Theatre (moving to Broadway in July 2015), Terrence McNally’s Mothers And Sons on Broadway, Steve Martin and Edie Brickell’s Bright Star at The Old Globe, and the world premiere of John Kander and Greg Pierce's musical The Landing at The Vineyard Theatre, continuing his dedication to the creation of new work. He is currently represented on Broadway with It Shoulda Been You

In addition to his theatre design, Nevin serves as the Audio Consultant for Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall. In 2013, he opened the acclaimed Rodgers And Hammerstein's Cinderella on Broadway, and received a Tony Award nomination for Best Sound Design for his work on the production. Nevin's other recent sound designs in New York include Far From Heaven at Playwrights Horizons Theatre and The Performers and Magic/Bird on Broadway, both of which opened in 2012 at The Longacre Theatre. Formerly, he was a founding principal of the prolific sound design firm Acme Sound Partners, and he provided sound design services for dozens of Broadway shows, including such diverse Tony Award winners as In The Heights, Hair, Monty Python's Spamalot, The Light In The Piazza, Avenue Q, and La Bohème.
