Blue Man Group Rocks Out With SFX

Stage Research, Inc. is pleased to announce that its SFX software is being used by the Blue Man Group in its shows in Las Vegas, Orlando, Berlin, Oberhausen, Tokyo, and Stuttgart.

The Blue Man Group’s production team taps SFX for multi-track music and audio playback and sound effects during their sell-out shows. “It’s been great,” reports Matt Koenig, sound supervisor for Blue Man Productions. “SFX was easy to get going and manage, and it’s easy to make changes with the software—something we do frequently during the tech process. SFX gives us the flexibility to set up screens, pages, playlists and cue lists and revise them quickly and easily.”

Mark Norfolk, theatrical rental group manager at Specialized Audio Visual, Inc. (SAVI), recommended SFX to Blue Man Group, which was looking for a change from hard-disk multi-track playback. SFX runs on two PCs. SAVI customized the deployment of SFX for the production so all the ‘go’ buttons are built into the palm rest of the custom console; SAVI also helped the Blue Man team write the spec to their design needs.

“I’ve been using SFX on my tours for years,” Norfolk notes. “It’s rock solid.”
“SFX does everything we need it to do—there’s no comparison to competitors’ products,” says Koenig. “Support from Stage Research has been great, too. We fully plan on continuing to use SFX.”
