Audio Engineer & Sound Designer David Lynd Joins Scharff Weisberg

Scharff Weisberg has announced that David Lynd has joined the company as director of audio services. Lynd comes on board with over 25 years experience in large-scale audio production.

“David has worked all over the world for dozens of corporate, political and entertainment clients,” notes Scharff Weisberg vice president of staging, Michael Halper. “He’s been involved with several Cirque du Soleil projects, and he’s been the House A1 on ‘Inside the Actors Studio’ with James Lipton. We’ve had a successful freelance relationship with David for a while and we’re thrilled to have him come on staff. “

Lynd’s TV credits as a house sound mixer and system designer for live audiences include MSNBC’s “Hardball” with Chris Matthews, town hall meetings for CNN’s “Paula Zahn Now,” various summit-style shows with NBC’s Brian Williams, and NBC’s “Today Show” (as house mixer for musical guests). Among his many international theatrecredits are “An Evening With Anna Devire Smith” at New York City’s MOMA; the musical “Chang Pogo” in Seoul, Amsterdam, Rome and Sofia, Bulgaria; the musical “Jane Eyre” in Toronto; the famed “Radio City Christmas Spectacular;” and, as house mixer on the US and Japanese tours, the Cirque du Soleil’s “Saltimbanco.”

Lynd’s numerous corporate and special events include the Clinton Global Initiative, GSK/Roche’s launch of Boniva, an International Olympic Committee New York City press event, the Seeds of Peace annual benefit, and New York City’s Tribeca Film Festival.

“David will be dividing his time between the field, the office and the shop as he helps us survey, quote and execute shows,” Halper explains. “He will be working very closely with our audio department on equipment evaluation and purchase as well as packaging and quality control.”

“I’m thrilled to be on board with Scharff Weisberg. It’s exciting to be working with a company that is expanding and growing. I am honored to be able to support and facilitate that growth and look forward to a long and successful working relationship,” adds Lynd.
