Anne Militello Lights Jazz/Dance Performance By Christopher Janney On November 25

Composer/architect/designer/musician Christopher Janney and legendary bassist Bill Laswell present Exploring the Hidden Music! on Tuesday, November 25 at 8pm at the Gramercy Theater, 127 E 23rd St, New York City, with guest dancer Sunny Hitt and choreography by Sara Rudner. Additional artists include Lynn Mabry, Dave Revels, Trilok Gurtu, Sheila E, and DJ Adam Gibbons.

Janney has collaborated with Anne Militello on the lighting—both were speakers at Live Design’s Envision symposium in September 2013. “I'm using mostly LED's (Nexus panels, MAC Auras, and ChromaQ strip lights as footlights, and a few MAC Vipers,” explains Militello “Since the evening is really four movements —an improv music jam session with some amazing world music greats, a piece where Chris plays his "light organ," a dance piece, and then a DJ set, I am prepared for anything and am ready to wing it! With Chris Herman as my programmer, we will have some fun.  It will look technological, modern, cutting edgewhile making sensitive light without being too gimmicky,” adds the LD.

An interactive sound/light installation at the door and a new interactive light work, “Touch my Light,” over DJ Adam Gibbons (Uhuru Afrika) set with live drumming complete the program.
