Bandit Lights The Way For 2006 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series Awards

Bandit is honored to have recently provided lighting for the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series Awards Ceremony, held at the Waldorf-Astoria's Grand Ballroom in New York, NY.

SPEED broadcasted the live awards ceremony pre-show while TNT aired the ceremony. Comedian, Jay Mohr, co-hosted the evening and singer, Jewel, provided the musical entertainment.

Lighting designer, Jason Robinson, chose equipment that provided the best lighting in a television production. Equipment included PAR 64s, Lycian M2 Spots, MAC 250s and 600s, Vari*Lite 3000 Spots, PixelRange Pixelines and ETC Source Fours. Lighting was controlled by two Whole Hog IIs and two Compulite Reds.

Coproduction manager, Steve Hoover, says that the VL 3Ks, MAC 600s, and PixelRange Pixelines all acted, in part, as the heart of the show. The VL 3Ks served to paint the ceiling, while the MAC 600s were a base color wash for the entire set.

Not to be left out, the Pixelines proved to be very valuable as well. They added an element of versatility that allowed Robinson to create an active lighting design for the show. This production would not have been possible without the help of Cory Posocco of NASCAR, Jon Kallas from Communicore, coproduction manager, Mike D’Alioi.

“This event has become kind-of like a family reunion for all of us,” comments Hoover. “I really can’t say enough about our good friends from Local 1, everyone at the Waldorf, Jason Robinson, and the entire production team.”

Bandit client representative, Brent Barrett adds, “Bandit Lites is very appreciative and very proud of this yearly opportunity to work with our friend, Jon Kallas and the entire Communicore team on this very prestigious NASCAR event.”
