The top products of the past year are here once again. Chosen by our panels of prestigious judges in three categories—lighting, projection, and sound—several months were spent debating the Live Design 2014-2015 Products Of The Year. Congratulations to the teams that developed these products and all those who support them. Sound Product of the Year for Speakers is d&b audiotechnik Y-Series.
The Y-Series loudspeakers are what d&b calls “flexible and configurable solutions, even in the most arduous sound reinforcement situations.” Flexible horizontal dispersion characteristics and rotatable horns with innovative custom waveguides ensure constant directivity over a wide bandwidth, while dipolar driver arrangements deliver accurate dispersion control. Deep low-end performance comes from its bass-reflex design. “For our industry, the one product that will really command attention this year is the Y-Series,” says one judge. “We have been using the Q-Series for some time now with good results, but those boxes are long in the tooth…I expect a quick adoption of the Y-Series.” Another calls it “a great step forward in the d&b lineup.”
