Motley Crue Shout at the Devil on Tour With Catalyst

A High End Systems Catalyst Pro media server is kickstarting the heart of Motley Crue's Red, White & Crue: Better Live Than Dead 2005 world tour.

The two-hour show features classics and new numbers and reunites all four original members–Nikki Sixx, Vince Neil, Mick Mars, and Tommy Lee-–after six years.

Tommy Lee used Catalyst on his 2002 tour, even sitting in on programming sessions at High End Systems' Los Angeles office. He told High End then, "I’m such a computer freak. I’m a mad scientist in my own little world. So I love stuff like this. We’ve all seen a million moving lights before, but this is something else. I’ve been dreaming of this kind of show and technology. I almost had a tear in my eye when I saw the (Catalyst) demo in person. I’ve wanted to do this my entire life -- to make all the light cues and the video on the beat."

The lighting team includes LD Justin Collie of Artfag, lighting director Kevin Cauley and programmer Nathan Wilson, with extra pre-tour assistance from HES programmers Brad Schiller and Nicholas Militello. XL Touring Video is supplying the Catalyst. Lighting contractor is Ed & Ted's Excellent Lighting.

The tour started in February in North American arenas, then heads to Latin America, Europe and UK, and returns to US amphitheatres in August/September. November/December will see the group in Southeast Asia.
