Q1 On Trans-Siberian Orchestra Tour

Q1 Production Technologies is finishing up this year’s Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) tour--actually, two simultaneous east and west coast tours--and the show is the most complex and spectacular in the group’s history.

Q1’s Craig Redden, who has worked with TSO lighting director Bryan Hartley and tour director Elliot Saltzman since 2001, says that the challenge of putting together such a huge lighting package for the 2006 tour, which included many dates that required early morning load-ins for a matinee show, has directly corresponded with the absolute thrill of seeing the final result.

The identical rigs provided by Q1 consist of a combination of Vari-Lite VL3000s, Martin Professional MAC 2000s, Atomic 3000s, Color Kinetics ColorBlast LEDs, Compulite Vector consoles, 100’x40’ fiber optic drapes, and 30" automation truss with custom articulating corners. The visual spectacle also includes 12 Syncrolites, with pyro effects including dragons, gerbs, waterfalls, and multicolored fire effects supplied by Pyrotek Special Effects, with multicolored and YAG laser effects from Laser Design Productions and Element Labs Versa Tube video elements supplied by XL Touring Video.
