a major international exhibition of set, costume, lighting, and sound desgin, will be held from March 12 through 19, 2005 at the Royal York Hotel, in conjunction with USITT 2005 and the OISTAT World Congress in Toronto, Canada. A joint project of USITT, CITT, and OISTAT, WSD2005 is open to all individual designers from around the world. The deadline for entries is June 30, 2005.
All designers who submit an entry will have their work displayed on interactive kiosks and large format video screens in the digital portion of the exhibition. A selected group of designers will be invited to present their designs or have their soundscapes played in the Gallery environment. An international jury will select the winners, who will be honored at an awards ceremony and reception on Monday, March 14, 2005. Both a print and digital catalogue will be available.
This event is designed to complement the prestigious Prague Quadrennial, by allowing more individual designers to compete on a more regular basis than the every four years of the PQ. Oragnizers hope that a second edition of the WSD might be held in 2009.
