Visual Terrain Takes Harley's Show on the Road

Los Angeles-based lighting design, theatrical consulting, and production design/management firm Visual Terrain has been selected as the show and site lighting designer for Harley-Davidson's 100th Anniversary Open Road Tour.

Beginning July 20, 2002, the tour will pass through 10 cities around the world, starting with Atlanta and stopping in Baltimore, Los Angeles, Toronto, Dallas, Mexico City, Sydney, Tokyo, Barcelona, and Munich. The tour concludes in August 2003 with "The Ride Home" followed by a three-day celebration and party in Harley-Davidson's hometown of Milwaukee. The tour will include concerts, exhibits, and other activities. Visual Terrain will light the concerts, the event site, and the interior of several merchandise and exhibit tents.

"We're proud to be associated with such an historical, exciting event," said Visual Terrain principal lighting designer Jeff Ravitz, who will be lighting the tour's rock, country, and blues concerts. "Celebrating the 100th anniversary of an internationally respected company such as Harley-Davidson is sure to be a unique experience."

Principal designer Lisa Passamonte Green and her team will be lighting the event site and several of the tent interiors. Together with Ravitz, she heads up a crew of six lighting and production professionals, dealing with the special challenges of lighting the event and live performances for three days and nights at each location. The team includes Jeff Burkhart, Matt Levesque, Erin Powell, Greg Randle, and Stacey Westbrook. "This is where Visual Terrain's multiple fields of expertise come in handy," said Green. "There aren't many other firms with the expertise to light both live shows and mobile, temporary architectural spaces all under one roof."
