Visit WSD2005 In Toronto Through March 19

World Stage Design 2005, an international exhibition of set, lighting, costume, and sound design, opened Saturday, March 12 and runs through March 19, at the Canadian Room in the Royal York Hotel in Toronto, Canada.

World Stage Design is a new inclusive, designer-focused, international celebration of design that includes digital and gallery-style exhibitions and the publication of print and digital catalogs documenting contemporary stage design throughout the world. The WSD is a new project of OISTAT, with the inaugural event being produced by the USA and Canadian OISTAT Centers, USITT and CITT.

The WSD2005 Gallery Exhibit, which is free to the public, includes 82 set designs, 55 costume designs, 40 lighting designs, and a sound design gallery. In addition to costume forms, framed renderings, digital video catalog, and environmental soundscapes are 42 scaled (1:25 and 1:50) models representing a wide variety of outstanding work by the international set design community.

Over 1,000 designs by 532 designers from 43 nations were submitted and can be seen digitally on the WSD2005 DVD. A handsome catalogue of the designs has also been published.
