USITT Presents Special Award To Cast Software

Gilray Densham, founder & CEO of Cast Software, was the recipient of a Special Citation Award, commending his company's efforts in the development and refinement of WYSIWYG., at USITT in Toronto last week.

"It was an honor to be recognized by USITT, a foundation that promotes and supports hundreds of thousands of students and educators in the field of theatrical production," remarks Densham. "A significant part of Cast's mission is to provide educational software that encourages hands-on learning, preparing students for real-world scenarios."

In other Cast news, the company introduced Vivien at the 2005 Stage Expo, an all-in-one design package created for the meeting and event industry. "The response from lighting and design professionals was tremendous," says Densham. "The need for this type of an event design solution has been long awaited."

Compatible with Cast's flagship software WYSIWYG, Vivien allows users to create a virtual representation of their event, selecting from a vast library of items, including tables, chairs, décor, AV, architectural, banquet, and staging items. Complete customization is easily achieved by applying textures, colors, and lighting to the design. Inventory is tracked by Vivien's database that produces detailed floor plans and layouts as desired. Seating arrangements of any magnitude are automatically calculated and rendered. When the design is complete, it can be viewed in 2D or 3D from every angle.
