Ross De Alessi Lighting Design (dealessi.com) recently earned international lighting design awards for two of its projects: Montecasino, a South African resort and casino, and the historic Forth Bridge in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Principal Ross De Alessi and his team won an Award of Merit from General Electric's Edison Awards competition for their lighting of Montecasino, a mixed-use hospitality, retail, gaming, cinema, and live entertainment complex located near Johannesburg. The firm, which worked with electrical engineers Chorn Kirtland Riccardi of South Africa, designed lighting for seven city blocks of exterior facades, as well as the interior, which has the longest single ceiling expanse in the Southern Hemisphere.
De Alessi and firm designer Trish Connor received an Award of Excellence from the International Illumination Design Awards for their lighting of the Forth Bridge, a Victorian-era span that is the world's second-longest steel cantilever bridge. De Alessi and Connor created four different lighting concepts for owner Railtrack Scotland: "The Dawn of Steel"; "The Achievement of Engineering"; "The Honor of Construction"; and "The Accomplishment of Transportation." Railtrack opted to combine the "Engineering" and "Construction" concepts, from which the two designers developed a permanent architectural lighting scheme for the bridge.
Ross De Alessi Lighting Design has 27 years of experience in the lighting design and consultation field, with more than 700 major projects to its credit.
