Technifex was recently named technical show producer for Tomb Raider: The Ride™ at Paramount’s Kings Island. The new adventure ride was inspired by Paramount Pictures’ film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. Technifex will be responsible for all entertainment technologies, including special effects, audio, and show control.
The ride begins with a journey into a foreboding ancient temple. As stone walls give way, guests proceed through mysterious chambers, engraved with runic symbols and littered with debris of failed expeditions. With seconds to spare, they strap into the vehicle of escape. Playing off scenes from the motion picture filmed in Cambodia and Iceland, the escape includes a close call with razor-sharp stalactites and a face-first plunge into a pit of boiling, red-hot lava.
Tomb Raider: The Ride is scheduled to open in 2002.
