Strand Lighting

has released the first is a series of electronic newsletters which provide in-depth looks at the company’s products and projects. Far more ambitious than most examples of industry house organs, the first edition of Strand News looks at the new Esplanade Theatres project in Singapore, with commentary from Theatre Projects, the project's theatre consultants; a report on a Mexican production of Les Miserables, which uses Strand control; a look at the Robert Zemeckis Center for Digital Arts at USC; several shorter pieces, and a compendium of console programming tips from Rob Halliday, who has programmed several of the West End’s biggest hit musicals.

According to Peter Rogers of Strand, the company plans to publish the newsletter on a quarterly basis. The next issue, due in March, will cover Strand’s involvement in the Crystal Cathedral in California, the New Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, as well as some broadcast projects from around the world. Subsequent editions will be published in June, September, and December.
