SIM Legend Bob McCarthy Joins Meyer Sound’s Constellation Team

Meyer Sound has announced that audio system design, analysis, and tuning authority Bob McCarthy has joined Meyer Sound in the position of senior design consultant to work closely on the design of Constellation™ electroacoustic architecture, the company’s newest breakthrough technology.

McCarthy was an early employee at Meyer Sound and was instrumental in the development of the company's SIM® source independent measurement system. He also taught the first “SIM School,” which later evolved into Meyer Sound’s ongoing education program that today spans the globe. McCarthy eventually went on to become an independent sound system designer and tuner, a role in which he worked on numerous events, experience he now brings back to Meyer Sound.

Besides working on Constellation, McCarthy will also continue his involvement with Meyer Sound’s worldwide seminar series. In recent years, McCarthy has taught SIM and system design seminars around the world as part of the Meyer Sound program.

“Over the years, I have been looking for new solutions to meet unique challenges presented by different venues. The advent of Constellation caught my attention,” says McCarthy. “It was the natural impetus for me to work even more closely with the company. I’m very excited to be in the forefront of another Meyer Sound innovation.”

During his time as a Meyer Sound employee, McCarthy authored the book, Meyer Sound Design Reference for Sound Reinforcement, the first text to comprehensively examine loudspeaker interactions in the live sound environment using a scientific approach. In 2007, McCarthy expanded upon these core concepts and much more in his new book, Sound Systems: Design and Optimization (Focal Press).

“Bob is extremely talented and he has been part of the Meyer Sound family since very early in the company’s history,” says executive vice president Helen Meyer. “He was key in the birth of SIM and now, he will contribute to our ongoing development of Constellation. We are excited to have him on our team.”
