Shure Incorporated announced today the opening of the Shure Technology Annex, an addition to the Company’s corporate headquarters in Niles, IL. This 65,000-square-foot, two-story structure is occupied by the company’s engineering and quality laboratories, service department, tool and model shops, archives, training rooms, and receiving dock. "With its steel-and-glass design, the Shure Technology Annex is a perfect complement to the existing structure of our headquarters,” says Sandy LaMantia, president. "This new building provides us with a state-of-the-art center to ensure optimal space and equipment for the development of advanced technologies and new products in the years to come." A Microphone Lab that includes laboratory space and offices. There are also two new anechoic chambers, one for the development of new products and the other for Quality Engineering testing. Also, space is available for a future third chamber.

A Critical Listening Center, which is a “building within a building,” with 20 steel columns supporting an 18-inch concrete ceiling, to house a recording studio and an ideal environment for the full spectrum of product testing.

A Quality Engineering Lab for environmental testing of product reaction to heat, cold, moisture, corrosion, and other potential hazards. This lab includes a HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Test) Chamber that allows for rapid and very extreme temperature changes.

An RF (radio frequency) Chamber that allows the Company to conduct precision RF testing of its wireless products.

The Shure Archives, which contain historical photos, documents, and products.
