PLASA Announces New Theatrical London Tour

Once again, PLASA is presenting Theatrical London, which takes place September 12-14, just after this year’s PLASA show at Earl’s Court. Closely modeled after the Backstage LDI program, Theatrical London offers attendees a chance to get a closer look at the latest developments in entertainment technology being put to practical use.

Here’s this year’s schedule:

Wednesday, September 12: After the last day of the PLASA show, guests meet at Royal Albert Hall for a performance of Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring. Pre-show drinks will be served in the foyer; the performance begins at 7:30pm.

Thursday, September 13: The day starts back at Royal Albert Hall, for a guided tour that takes in the venue’s upgraded technical systems. This is followed by a trip to the Apollo Victoria Theatre, for backstage look at the musical Starlight Express, which also recently got a significant technical facelift. After lunch, the group moves on to the Tussaud’s Group Studios for an exclusive tour, followed by a visit to Madame Tussaud’s in Baker Street. (This is followed by an optional trip to the London Planetarium). The day closes at the Donmar Warehouse Theatre, with a cabaret performance by West End star Sian Phillips.

Friday, September 14. A final optional tour takes in the Globe Theatre, and a trip to the wine-themed Vinopolis for a light lunch and farewell.

The price of the event is GBP250, including the Friday events, and GBP225, for Wednesday and Thursday only.
