Paula Dinkel and Steven Young Join Visual Terrain, Inc.

Visual Terrain is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Paula Dinkel and Steven Young.

Dinkel joins Visual Terrain as a principal lighting designer. With over 25 years of experience at Walt Disney Imagineering designing the lighting for Disney theme park attractions, retail and architecture, Dinkel brings a rich portfolio of lighting projects to Visual Terrain including DisneyQuest, (which received both an IES Award of Merit and a THEA Award), Rock'n' Roller Coaster, California Adventure, and Disney Studios Paris.

Dinkel’s recent projects for Visual Terrain include the interior lighting for the 300,000-sq.-ft. Harrah’s Chester Casino and Racetrack located in Chester Pennsylvania. She also served the Orange County Chapter of the Illuminating Engineering Society as treasurer, vice president, and then president in 1999, and was a frequent speaker at IES meetings around the country. Lighting Dimensions International selected Dinkel as the 1997 Themed Entertainment Lighting Designer of the Year for her work on Club Disney, the Disney Store 5th Avenue, and other projects. Her work has been published in Architectural Digest, Lighting Dimensions, and LD&A. She holds an MFA degree in Theatre from Cal State Fullerton.

Young comes to Visual Terrain with a diverse background in architectural themed and theatrical lighting design. His portfolio includes designs for Universal Studios Florida--Islands of Adventure, Warner Bros. Movie World theme parks in Germany and Australia, Pasadena’s Urban Village--Paseo Colorado, plus several casino resorts and housing communities. Theatrical credits include award-winning designs for Songs for a New World (Ovation Award), Hot Mikado (Garland Award), and Side Show (Garland Award, Robby Award). In 2004 he was honored with the Angstrom Lifetime Achievement Award by the LADCC. Young has been nominated for a Ovation Award for his lighting design for the world premiere of Paradise Lost: Shadows and Wings at The Theatre @ Boston Court in Pasadena, California.
