The nominees for the 55th Annual Outer Critics Circle Awards have been announced, with The Light in the Piazza leading the pack with 11 nominations followed by Spamalot and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with eight nominations each.
The Outer Critics Circle are notable for being the first major awards of the season as decided by media that cover Broadway "from a distance," i.e. out of town journalists and national media that cover the Great White Way. The list of design nominees are as follows:
