Metro DC Dance Awards The Washington Ballet

Metro DC Dance announced the awards to honor outstanding achievement in dance at the 5th Annual Metro DC Dance Awards in the Kennedy Center’s Terrace Theater.

The Washington Ballet was nominated in six of thirteen categories and received four awards including:

  • Outstanding Youth Performance for The Washington School of Ballet’s Annual Spring Performance (May 2005, Lisner Auditorium)
  • Excellence in Stage Design to Nicholas Phillips for his scenic design for Trey McIntyre’s Rite of Spring (February 2005, The Kennedy Center)
  • Outstanding Overall Production in a Small Venue for 7x7:Unplugged (May 2005, Lois and Richard England Studio)
  • Outstanding Overall Production in a Large Venue for Septime Webre’s The Nutcracker (December 2004, Warner Theater)

Formed in 2000, Metro Dance DC celebrates the excellence of Metropolitan DC, Maryland, and Virginia's dance community. It showcases the diversity of DC's finest with performances ranging from ballroom to hip hop to modern dance improvisation, and gives distinction to artists in categories including Outstanding Youth Performance, Emerging Choreographer and Outstanding Overall Production in Concert.
