Mel Shows the Way

Mel Bourne is the instructor for "Production Design for Motion Pictures," a two-session seminar offered by The Division of Continuing Education at New York's School of Visual Arts (SVA) June 18 and 19. The workshop will focus on the designer's role in creating the psychological as well as physical environment of a film. Through his work with Woody Allen and other directors, Bourne, an Oscar nominee for Interiors, The Natural, and The Fisher King, has become known as perhaps the quintessential New York production designer. His other credits include Manhattan, Zelig, F/X, Fatal Attraction, and Reversal of Fortune.

"Production Design for Motion Pictures" will be held from 10am to 4pm at SVA's East 23rd Street location. The cost for the non-credit course is $300; enrollment is limited. For more information, call (212) 592-2188, or visit the school's website, www.sva.edu.
