Meet The Lighting Masters At Santa Fe Opera

 

Two master of opera lighting are among the hosts of Live Design's Backstage At The Opera weekend in Santa Fe:

Rick Fisher

Lighting designer Rick Fisher has been a regular at Santa Fe Opera for fifteen operas to date, beginning with The Egyptian Helen and Wozzeck in 2001 and continuing through the 2010 Madame Butterfly and Albert Herring. In 2012 he provided the lighting design for The Pearl Fishers, and in 2013 he is lighting a new production of The Grand Duchess of Gerolstein and the world premiere of Oscar.

Duane Schuler

Lighting designer Duane Schuler is a longtime associate of The Santa Fe Opera. Since his Santa Fe Opera debut with Madame Butterfly in 1996, Schuler has returned to work with the company on numerous occasions, and recently provided the lighting design for La Traviata, Alceste, and the world premiere of Moravec’s The Letter in 2009. For the 2013 Santa Fe season he is designing the revival of The Marriage of Figaro, a new production of La Donna Del Lago, and the revival of La Traviata.

 

The Live Design Backstage At Santa Fe Opera Weekend* comprises:

A performance of The Marriage of Figaro on Friday evening, July 5, preceded by a buffet dinner

A performance of Grand Duchess of Gerolstein, Saturday evening, July 6, preceded by a buffet dinner

A in the theatre following the performances

A run-through of La Donna del Lago (tentative)

Backstage tours of the theatre, technical shops, and extensive campus

Panels with designers including lighting designers Rick Fisher and Duane Schuler

Panel discussions with technical staff

Welcome reception and farewell brunch
