Meet Chris Evans

Chris Evans, house sound engineer for the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts in Pittsburgh, PA, will be part of the top-name faculty for the inaugural Broadway Sound Master Classes (BSMC) to be held in New York City, June 28 and 29, 2003, immediately following the ninth annual Broadway Lighting Master Classes (BLMC). A graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University and Syn-Aud-Con, Evans has been at the Benedum Center since 1987, and he has designed or coordinated the installation of the audio systems for the four theatres in the Pittsburgh's Cultural District for the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. For over 14 years, he has been the production sound man for the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, during which time he has mixed over 40 musicals. Additionally, he is the sound man for the Pittsburgh Ballet and Pittsburgh Opera. He is a member of IATSE #3. At the BSMC he will tackle such subjects as: "What to expect when moving your show out of New York and into the venues around the country," "From four-walls to new performing arts centers," "How to modify your design keeping your artistic intent intact and fulfilling the needs of the local venue," and "Coping with local IATSE contracts and how it affects your show."
