Medvitz Named Principal at Lightswitch

Design consortium Lightswitch announced that highly respected industry veteran Chris Medvitz has joined their team. Medvitz has been designing theatrical, corporate, and concert event lighting for well over a decade. With a degree from the University of California, San Diego, he was a staff lighting designer for The Obie Company, director of lighting design at the Juice Creative division of The George P. Johnson Company, and has been working as an independent designer for a number of years.

Medvitz’s corporate client list is extensive, with companies such as Acura, Chrysler, Hummer, Infiniti, Jeep, Lexus, Microsoft, Nintendo, Nissan, Orange County Philharmonic Society, Pacific Symphony Orchestra, Samsung, Sebastian International, and Toyota making use of his talents. Theatrical credits include various productions for the Newport Theater Arts Center, Long Beach Playhouse, Theaterfaire for Children, Irvine Barclay Theater, and Opera Pacific.

Recently Medvitz has broadened into creative and visual direction, designing product launches for Nissan and Infiniti, co-creative directing Microsoft’s Xbox launch in 2001, and co-creating the groundbreaking Nissan Z Tour. He has designed shows for Lionel Richie’s 2000 and 2001 tours and Paulina Rubio’s 2001 concerts in Mexico City, Miami, and Los Angeles.

"I am very excited about joining the Lightswitch team. I’ve known John, Norm, Brad and Howard for several years, and have always admired their work and way of doing business," Medvitz says. "Over the last two years I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with them on several projects and have had a great time and a lot of fun while striving to deliver lighting design of the highest level of excellence. I look forward to being able to provide the expanded services the Lightswitch family can bring to my existing clients as well as bringing whatever I can to the team."
