LED Conference

The third annual LED summit, presented by Intertech Corporation, will take place October 21-23 at the Hyatt Islandia Hotel in San Diego, CA. This three-day conference will bring together leading developers and executives from the traditional lighting community, high-brightness LED (HB LED) manufacturers, component and equipment suppliers, lighting designers, and major end users to discuss the newest opportunities and advancements in HB LED markets, solid-state lighting applications, and technologies.

Light-emitting diodes have evolved significantly in the last five years, with growth rates as high as 58% a year. LEDs have been successfully used in traffic signals and exit signs and are now competing for market share in automotive and aeronautical applications, signage, architectural, contour, and roadway lighting. Technical hurdles still need to be overcome before LEDs become a truly viable option for the general illumination market. Problems include improved white light color rendering, integrating efficient optics and fixture design, and developing thermal resistant packaging, and industry standardization and universally accepted testing equipment.

Intertech's conference is designed for executives from companies involved with the manufacture, research, design, marketing, and end-use of high-brightness LEDs. Conference sessions will include global market outlook and market forecast, standardization and code issues, industry collaboration and harmonization, status of intellectual property, safety and testing, efficacy, color rendering, and chromaticity, environmental concerns and benefits, optics and luminaire design, and much more.

Speaker recruitment for this conference is now underway. To submit a topic idea, or to obtain more information on attendance, exhibition, or sponsorship opportunities, call Patricia Kinzer, conference director, at 207-781-9800, fax 207-781-2150, or e-mail [email protected].
