LDI 2023: It's A Wrap!

It's a wrap! LDI 2023 is over and was a roaring success. This year was a little different, the first Forumla 1 Grand Prix took place in Las Vegas pushing LDI to later in the year than usual, but for most people the later dates were a feature, not a bug. Chris McMeen of Christie Lites said, "The hotels and flights were cheaper, reservations were easier, and there were more rental cars available so it worked out well for me!"  Brian Dowd, designer relationship manager with Ayrton Lighting said there were more designers on the show floor than ever, as this time of year tends to be a little easier for them to make time.

Two attendees came all the way from Australia to go to LDI. Lisa Mibus and Bronwyn Pringle, both lighting designers and educators from Melbourne, Australia, bought VIP Passes for the show to take advantage of as much training as possible as well as catch up on the latest innovations on the show floor. Bronwyn said, "We are not preparing our students to enter the industry we did, because it is not the same now." Lisa, who teaches at the Victoria College of the Arts, agreed, "We are looking for the next big things coming in our industry, that's what our people want to know about and we have to prepare them for the future. And also, in our careers, we are always learning and this show is inspiring and also hands-on for the skills we need."

And the positive comments are simply flowing on social media:

"Thank you Ellen Lampert-greaux and all of Questex for supporting us with our unconventional exhibition this year at #LDI2023. We couldn’t be more ecstatic about how our prototype of Carbon was received. Stay tuned for updates on our beta release timetable. Amongst all the buzz, we ran out of our sales flyers, so our mistake is your gain. We are extending our discount offer for a couple more days to give you enough time to act on it and get in line for our Beta of Carbon. Thanks for your support and we’re ready to roll up our sleeves and make this a reality for you." - David Perkins, Imaginary Labs

"Bye bye LDI. So happy to see so many of my road brothers and sisters. Apologies to everyone I missed- but hopefully I’ll see you at LDI 2024!" Kevin Lawson, Kevin Lawson, lighting designer.

"LDI 2023 is now over, what an amazing show it was, thank you for coming, awesome feedback on the new #Chroma-Q 2inspire fixtures, cannot ask for better! As always, it was a pleasure seeing all friends and colleagues there! Paul Pelletier, AC Lighting

"We're thrilled to have won the LDI 2023 Sustainability Award for the P-3 Vision. The 3 series is made from recycled materials and non-toxic corrosion resistant treatments which drastically lowers the embodied carbon. An extremely efficient new hybrid LED engine helps to create a very powerful yet sustainable new tool in production lighting. #Sustainability #LDI. Nicholas Champion, SGM

"I’ve said since 2001 video is light and all I saw that impressed me was such! This LDI was the best I’ve attended in years - love performance technology. Some but not all my favorites." Adam Dunaway, designer.
