Jaffe Holden Acoustics Appoints New Senior Acoustics Consultant

Christopher Jaffe, founder and chairman of Jaffe Holden Acoustics, Norwalk, Connecticut, has announced that Larry S. King is joining the staff as senior acoustics consultant. For more than three decades Mr. King has been project manager and acoustic consultant for many top performing arts facilities in North America, Europe and Asia. Among his well known projects are:

  • The Esplanade, Singapore- As project manager and senior acoustics consultant for the $450 million performing arts and commercial complex including a 1,800-seat concert hall, a 2,000-seat opera house and three smaller performance/rehearsal spaces.


  • Metropole, Lausanne (Switzerland)- Renovation of a landmark 1,100-seat art deco cinema as a concert theatre and home for the Chamber Orchestra of Lausanne.


  • Skirball Theatre in the Kimmel Student Life Building at New York University- Acoustic designs for a 950-seat concert theatre and 500-seat auditorium.


  • McGill University, Montreal, Quebec- Acoustics design of new music faculty building that contains 200-seat recital hall, opera rehearsal room, three recording control suites and isolation booths.


  • Queens Theatre in the Park, NYC- Renovation of former New York State World’s Fair Pavilion into a 500-seat thrust stage theatre and a 200-seat cabaret theatre.

Mr. King has collaborated in the realm of performing arts facilities with such colleagues as Artec Consultants Inc., Roger Morgan Studio, Schuller and Shook, Fisher/Dachs, and Donnell Associates. He has worked with such architectural luminaries as Philip Johnson, Alfredo DeVido, Moshe Safdie, Kevin Roche, Charles Young, Daniel Coffey, Mitchell Kurtz, Gilles Saucier, and Eberhard Zeidler.
