Infocomm 2003 Registration Underway

The International Communications Industries Association, Inc.® (ICIA®) has announced the opening of registration for InfoComm 2003, the premier business-to-business conference and exhibition for the audiovisual (AV) communications and systems integration industry. This year’s InfoComm will be held at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Florida, May 31-June 6, 2003.

The week-long conference and exhibition serves the diverse needs of more than 20,000 serious buyers and sellers of the multi-billion dollar audiovisual industry. More than 550 leading AV manufacturers will exhibit at InfoComm 03, offering over 10,000 products in display, projection, audio technologies, control systems, networking and videoconferencing.

Broadcasters, television and other video professionals will find in InfoComm a one-stop shop for presentation and communications systems, including displays and projectors in all sizes and technologies, cameras, in-station monitors, speakers and microphones, rental and staging equipment, networking and communications tools, teleconferencing and other multi-location meeting tools, multimedia integration, and much more.

InfoComm offers a valuable learning environment through its conference sessions in addition to the exhibition floor. Attendees maximize their time by obtaining in-depth training from peer experts on everything from facility design to optimized acoustics, from project management to collaborative conferencing alternatives, from issuing targeted RFPs for design and integration to preventing cost overruns.

The theme of the 2003 Show is “Evolving the Art of Communication,” which celebrates the integration of communication technologies into our daily lives. A series of illustrations specially commissioned to illustrate the theme whimsically “enhances” masterpieces of art, ranging from works by Michelangelo to Andrew Wyeth, by incorporating into the famous images icons of modern communication technology, such as a recording microphone in Grant Wood’s American Gothic.

"We anticipate an inspiring and informative InfoComm 03," said ICIA Executive Director Randal A. Lemke, Ph.D. “We know attendees visit InfoComm for the new technologies.”

InfoComm organizers are promoting a variety of new activities and events, including:

*The “Art of Communications” Large-Venue Display Gallery, an interactive exhibit of large-screen displays demonstrating the powerful impact of modern display technology coupled with surround sound and dazzling imagery.

*A Manufacturers’ Forum on Monday, June 2, where leading display, networking and audio manufacturers highlight key industry trends. Forum speakers include top executives from Sony, NEC, Crestron, Extron and Telex.

*A Collaborative Conferencing Track provided with the Interactive Multimedia & Collaborative Communications Alliance, offering courses and a pavilion on web-, audio-and videoconferencing.

*A Streaming Media and Video Production Pavilion, sponsored by Primedia, showcasing the latest products and services for capturing, editing, encoding, hosting and distributing audio and video via the Internet.

*An expanded education and training program with more than 175 sessions, featuring advanced-levelcourses, product-specific training from manufacturers, a technology managers’ track and a special three-day program from Syn-Aud-Con, leaders in audio training.

*A one-of-a-kind, behind-the-scenes AV tour of Disney World on Friday, June 6, the last day of the Show.
