IESNY Tour of The Four Seasons Restaurant

June is an extremely busy month for IESNY, the New York section of the IES (Illuminating Engineering Society). First came the Lumen Awards, held on June 14 at Chelsea Piers, with over 600 guests celebrating this year's Lumen winners as well as the 100th anniversary of the IES. On Saturday, June 24, IESNY has planned a lighting tour of the famed Four Seasons Restaurant, located at 99 E 52nd St, between Park and Lexington Avenues. The tour will take place from 4:00-6:00pm and look at the work of the late lighting designer Richard Kelly and the architecture of Philip Johnson at this landmark restaurant.

4:15 - 5:00 Walking tour of the Four Seasons with discussion on Richard Kelly's Lighting Approach, Philip Johnson/Mies van der Rohe's design, the patrons and the history.
5:00 - 6:00 Light reception

The section is also co-hosting a discussion, Richard Kelly and Daylighting, to be held on Monday, June 26, from 6:00-8:00pm at the
Center for Architecture, 536 LaGuardia Place, where an exhibit:
Light | Energy | Impact: The Legacy of Richard Kelly, is on display through Sept 16th , 2006. The discussion will explore the daylighting schemes of the on the designs of today, a contemporary look at Richard Kelly's timeless Philosophy of Light. Matthew Tanteri, Tanteri Associates, will serve as moderator, with speakers Stephen Rustow, KPF; Matt Franks, Ove Arup; and Davidson Norris, CNC
