IESNY Hosts Open House For New New York Lighting Exhibit

IESNY is hosting an Open House to celebrate the new lighting exhibition, Transformed By Light: The New York Night, at the Museum of the City of New York. The Open House with a special reception and walk-thru with the designers featured in the exhibit will be held Wednesday, April 19, 2006, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.

Transformed by Light: The New York Night blends history, technology, and art to reveal how illumination shaped the modern city. The exhibition immerses visitors in a series of environments that portray the essential role of light in the construction of New York life on the street, at home, in the office, and out on the town.

Artifacts range from contemporary Rockefeller Center Tree lights to a giant neon that once towered over Columbus Circle. The exhibition features state-of the-art lighting by ten contemporary design firms.

At the reception, Susan Henshaw Jones, president and director of the Museum of the City of New York will welcome IESNY and guests and will introduce Greg Dreiser, exhibition curator, and participating designers.

The Open House will be held at the Museum of the City of New York, 1220 Fifth Avenue at 103rd Street.
