IALD Seminars Now Accredited with Royal Institute of British Architects

IALD Seminars Now Accredited with Royal Institute of British Architects The International Association of Lighting Designers’ UK Region is now a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) providers network. Currently, local IALD members have three seminars approved for accreditation through the prestigious program.

The RIBA is one of the most influential architectural institutions in the world, existing to advance architecture and promote excellence in the profession. The IALD is the largest architectural lighting design association in the world, dedicated solely to promoting excellence in the independent architectural lighting design profession.

“I believe that this relationship makes undeniable good sense for both associations," explains IALD UK regional doordinator Mary Rushton-Beales. “We are giving RIBA architects the opportunity to learn about aspects of lighting design from professional lighting designers, who operate autonomously from manufacturers. The accreditation procedure is stringent and critical and the content of seminars is relevant. We are really excited to be associated with RIBA.”

Currently on the RIBA CPD roster is the seminar “Physiologically Beneficial Lighting” by Professional Member Rushton-Beales. Also under accreditation is IALD Associate Member Mark Sutton-Vane’s seminar “Lighting Historic Buildings” and IALD Professional Member Graham Phoenix’s seminar entitled “Urban Lighting Plans.” CPD seminars given by accredited members of the CPD providers network count double points.
