Gubi Named President of AKG

A new chapter in the history of AKG Acoustics, GmbH began on October 1, 2005, when Stefan Gubi assumed responsibility as president of the company.

Gubi succeeds Dr. Hugo Lenhard Backhaus, who left AKG at the end of June 2005. “To me, AKG was always one of the most outstanding Austrian enterprises,” says Gubi. “As a music enthusiast, it is fascinating to me to lead an organization which is pre-eminent in the international world of music and audio technology.”

During its 58-year history, AKG has registered over 1500 worldwide patents. As the new president of AKG, Gubi has taken on the mission of expanding the brand’s global market share to match its technology leadership. “Our major market focus is presently on the USA,” Gubi explains. “Where we will realize our potential by working more closely with our sister Harman Pro brands (BSS, Crown, dbx, DigiTech, JBL, Lexicon, Studer & Soundcraft) particularly in the field of touring concert sound.”

Gubi is an accomplished industry veteran with a 20-year-plus track record of achievement in sales, marketing and general management. His resume includes positions on the executive committee of Austrian IT firm Kapsch Business Com AG, as managing director of the Upper Austrian National Publishing House and in senior management positions with Ericcson Austria.
