Free VectorWorks Spotlight Training Offered In NY

Nemetschek North America is partnering with Big Apple Lights to host a series of free VectorWorks Spotlight classes in New York. Spotlight is part of the VectorWorks Industry Series, and is geared toward professionals in the field of entertainment design (look for a review in the August issue of LD).

These classes are being offered to educate lighting professionals on the benefits of CAD technology over traditional pencil drafting. The classes will be held at Fordham University's Lincoln Center Campus and will consist of two half-day classes and four 2-hour introductory classes. The classes are free and open to anyone.

The first seminar is a half-day VectorWorks Training for Technical Production and will be held July 19 at 9am and July 20 at 2:30pm. This intensive, hands-on seminar provides fundamental training using VectorWorks for technical production. Attendees will be taught how to re-think pencil drafting techniques, and design on-screen with two-dimensional drafting and three-dimensional modeling tools. Users will create a simple design complete with finished floor plans, and a 3D model. Frank Brault of Nemetschek North America teaches this course.

The second seminar is an Introduction to VectorWorks Spotlight for Lighting Professionals, which will be held July 19 at 2pm and 4:30pm, and July 20 at 9am and 11:30am. This hands-on tutorial provides an introduction to using VectorWorks Spotlight to create light plots. Attendees will learn how to create a simple light plot, complete with paperwork, Magic Sheets, a rendered 3D presentation including gobo projections, and animated scene changes. They will also learn how to effortlessly exchange data with Lightwright. Brault also teaches this course.
