Follow Rich Wolpert’s Ride for Behind the Scenes

Rich Wolpert’s on his way to USITT. Wolpert’s 11 day, 750-mile bicycle ride from Springfield, MO to the USITT Conference in Houston, TX to benefit The ESTA Foundation’s Behind the Scenes is currently underway and being documented from the road with daily postings and pictures of his travels through the heartland.

Although Wolpert was originally going to be accompanied by his wife Becky on their tandem recumbent bicycle, she injured her knee just before the ride and had to bow out. As a result, he was forced by circumstances to get the bike he’s always wanted, a Rans Stratus recumbent. Robin Schraft, Chairman of the Theatre Department at Drury University, accompanied Wolpert on his first day of riding, but now he’s going solo until he gets to Texas.

He has already covered 265.2 miles with his shortest ride at 57.9 miles and the longest clocking in at 72.9 miles. His average speed is ranging from 11.6 to 14.2 mph depending on headwinds.
