Faculty Announced For 2011 BLMC

“Can light breathe? Can light transcend reality? Can light create an evocative aura? Eight of the most creative Broadway lighting designers are being challenged to answer these questions. We are searching our own design principles and practices to unleash the talent and potential within yourselves. Won’t you join us on this quest?” -- Jules Fisher

Tony Award-winning LD Jules Fisher serves as the creative consultant for the 17th edition of the Broadway Lighting Master Classes, to be held May 24-26, 2011. Classes will be at NYU’s Skirball Center For The Performing Arts on Washington Square South on May 24-25, and at Sardi’s restaurant in the Broadway theatre district on May 26. All attendees will see Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark on Wednesday evening, May 25, with lighting by Donald Holder.

The BLMC also includes a manufacturers showcase with leading lighting and digital media manufacturers, as well as continental breakfast and lunch, a cocktail party, lighting products of the year ceremony, and a book signing for Jules Fisher’s USITT monograph (purchase a copy online when you register for the Classes). In addition, low-cost housing is available in the NYU dorms as of Sunday, May 22.
