EPA Honors Osram Sylvania For Environmental Stewardship

In a special ceremony held in Boston’s Faneuil Hall on May 4, Osram Sylvania was awarded an Environmental Merit Award by the New England region of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its outstanding efforts in preserving New England’s environment.

“We are honored to live and work in an area as rich in environmental resources as New England,” Mike Colotti, vice president of brand management and marketing communications for Osram Sylvania, remarked in accepting the award. “It is a privilege to be recognized as a leader in environmental responsibility, and we look forward to a continued partnership with the EPA as we work to protect our natural resources for future generations.”

Sylvania has been an Energy Star® partner since 1999. In March, the company received the Energy Star Sustained Excellence Award from the EPA and Department of Energy for its consistent achievement in environmental protection and energy efficiency.

In addition to its commitment to produce energy-efficient products, Sylvania has voluntarily reduced energy use by installing highly efficient lighting systems in its facilities. Sylvania also has worked extensively to educate the public and its employees about the benefits of energy efficient products and practices.

More than 20 Sylvania products carry the Energy Star rating, the government backed symbol of energy efficiency. With the help of these products, last year Americans saved enough energy to power 20 million homes and reduce air pollution equivalent to that of 18 million cars.
