Electrosonic Appoints Dresner

Electrosonic Group announces that Alan Dresner has joined the company as general manager for the North American Video Display Solutions (VDS) business.

“Alan brings to Electrosonic a wealth of control room, display and processing knowledge based on 25 years in the industry, most recently as director of Christie's control room and immersive visualization business,” says Kyle Carpenter, president and CEO of Electrosonic Group. “He is an assertive sales manager as well as a disciplined, process-oriented manager who possesses a broad understanding of the technology employed in the industry. The timing of his appointment coincides with the introduction of a set of very exciting processing and compression products from Electrosonic.”

Dresner has held a number of management posts primarily in the large-screen video display and visual communications industries. Most recently he served as senior director, sales and marketing, of Christie Digital Systems’ Visual Environments Group, where he was responsible for sales and marketing, strategy, and business development for control room and immersive visualization systems in the US and Latin America. From October 2002 to April 2005, Dresner was Christie’s senior director, Advanced Media Display Group for the US and South/Latin America, responsible for sales of control room and fixed installation projection systems and services.

“I’m very excited about joining Electrosonic,” he says. “I believe content management is the key enabler of visual communications systems, and Electrosonic has been a leader starting over 40 years ago, with slide projectors and evolving to the digital video systems of today. Getting the right message to the right viewers at the right time is the challenge. Electrosonic is very well positioned to offer optimal solutions tailored to customer requirements.”

Dresner began a 15-year career with Electrohome in late 1985 starting as a consultant to Electrohome USA, Inc.’s Projection Systems Group in Washington. He was promoted to market development manager for control rooms and other emerging display markets. While at Electrohome, he served as product manager, director of market development, and subsequently relocated to the UK as general manager and then vice president of Electroshome’s European and Asian subsidiaries in England and Singapore.

In his new role as general manager for North American VDS, Dresner foresees Electrosonic successfully leveraging its Quantum, Matrix, and Glimpse products across numerous application areas with strong competitive advantages.

“Given the rapid pace of technology development in displays, it's difficult to sustain a competitive advantage without significant size and manufacturing capability,” he notes. “Display manufacturers will continue to develop larger LCD flat panels and eventually will produce seamless tile-able video ‘walls.’ Content management and control for a wide range of media file types will determine the effectiveness and efficacy of video systems for applications which include surveillance, traffic management, command and control, and public information display."
