Design Show 2003 at NYU Tisch School of the Arts

The Work of 20 emerging artists in scenic, costume, and lighting design from the Department of Design for Stage and Film at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts will be featured in the exhibition Design Show 2003. The annual event, organized by the Department, benefits hundreds of producers, directors, established designers and other entertainment industry professionals from around the country who come to view the exhibit looking for new talent.

Design Show 2003 opens with a public reception on Tuesday, May 6 from 5 to 8 pm. It will remain on view daily from noon to 8 pm through Wednesday, May 14. It is installed in the 3rd floor Design Studio at the Tisch School of the Arts, located at 721 Broadway (between Waverly and Washington Place.) Admission is free. In addition to the opening reception, on Saturday, May 10 from 2 to 5 pm the designers will be in the gallery for informal conversations about their work.

The exhibition showcases the work of some of the best young talent in the professional design field. It comprises hundreds of designs for realized productions and studio projects for theatre, film, and dance in a wide variety of media, including scale models for theatre and film costumes, production photographs and sketches.

The designers are all members of the 2003 graduating class and have completed the three-year MFA program. Susan Hilferty is the chair of the Department of Design for Stage and Film at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
