Dante Ferretti Goes Gangbusters

Production designer Dante Ferretti, whose 19th-century Manhattan sets for Martin Scorsese's Gangs of New York were glimpsed last weekend in a 20-minute preview reel at the Cannes Film Festival, will be honored in fall 2002 with an exhibition of his work at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences' Beverly Hills museum. Italy's Cinecitta International will partner with the Academy on the career retrospective, it was announced yesterday in Cannes.
