THEATRE

Hairspray
Broadway’s first new musical of the season, and the first really big hit since The Producers, Hairspray is based on the John Waters film and is set in 60s Baltimore. The show features sets by David Rockwell, costumes by William Ivey Long, lighting by Kenneth Posner, sound by Steve Kenney and associate John Shivers, and wig and hair design by Paul Huntley. Harlem Song
This unique theatrical event--part musical, part historical retrospective, part museum installation--is housed in the legendary Apollo Theatre and serves as a valentine to the neighborhood. Written and directed by George C. Wolfe, the production features sets by Riccardo Hernandez, lights by Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer, costumes by Paul Tazewell, sound by Acme Sound Partners, and projection design by Batwin + Robin. Participating vendors include Hudson Scenic Studios, Vari-Lite, Sound Associates, Scharff Weisberg, NEC, and High End Systems, Dataton, Yamaha, TC Electronics, Soundcraft, Mytek, XTA, L'Acoustics, Crown, Sennheiser, AKG and Prism Production Services. CONCERTS

Lenny Kravitz
Lighting and set designer Jon Pollack provided the creative juice to highlight Lenny Kravitz’s 2002 world tour, most notably a custom truss and rear-projection screen concept he created with Kevin Campbell. Participating vendors included Tait Towers, Rose Brand, Barco, Rosco, Performance Video, Flying Pig Systems, Coemar, High End Systems, Martin Professional, and Upstaging. Michael Eddy reports.
