Cobalt Studios Announces its Fall/Winter Specialty Pro-Seminars

Cobalt Studios announces its Fall/Winter 2001 line-up of Specialty Pro-Seminars and is inviting all scenic artists, scenic painters and set designers interested in honing or developing their scenic skills. You will need to sign-up early for these courses, as space is limited.

Foliage Painting for the Scenic Artist
October 22-25, 2001 4 days
A comprehensive look at trees, their form and how they are stylized by designers. Bring paint clothes and be ready to make some great samples. The instructor will be Rachel Keebler, the owner of Cobalt Studios.

History of Scene Painting
November 27-30, 2001 4 days
Including drawing, handmade paint and the Grisaille techniques; a comprehensive look at the development of scenic painting with its turn of the century surprises. The instructor will be Lance Brockman, professor at the University of Minnesota.

Interior-Grade Painted Marble
December 10-13, 2001 4 days
This seminar teaches techniques to finish almost any object you can think of and to make the painted surface look like real marble, (not marble paper). Includes info on prepping and finishing. Primarily focuses on the use of beer glazes, but includes a section on using oil paints. The instructor will be Rachel Keebler, the owner of Cobalt Studios.

Perspective for the Scenic Artist
January 7-10, 2002 4 days
What seems complex and intimidating is made simple and manageable. Learn to draw with confidence even the most complex of perspective layouts. The instructor will be Diane Fargo, resident charge painter at the Goodspeed Opera.

In addition to its Specialty Pro-Seminars, Cobalt Studios runs a highly regarded 2-year full-time Scenic Artist Training Program. Cobalt Studios also hosts other seminars each year including the 3-week Summer Scenic Painting intensive and the two-week Advanced Scenic Painting seminar.
