Clay Paky Sponsors Luc Lafortune Seminar in Argentina

Jornadas de Luz e Sonido were held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, April 2-4, organized by the magazine Tecnopolitan and sponsored by the Bergamo, Italy-based lighting manufacturer Clay Paky. Over 1,000 professional show lighting operators attended the event, in which several noted local LDs took part, including Eli Sirlin, Ernesto Diz, Marcelo Cuervo, and Ariel Del Mastro. A major highlight, however, was the appearance of internationally known LD Luc Lafortune, best-known for his work with the Cirque du Soleil. Lafortune was a likely choice to be special guest, as he is a longtime supporter of Clay Paky products, having used them in such Cirque productions as

Saltimbanco

,

Mystere

,

O

,

La Nouba

,

Quidam

, and

Dralion

, which is currently touring the US. “Clay Paky projectors have always given me the possibility of implementing all my projects in the best way, thanks to their power, versatility, color qualities, and uniformity of beam. This is why I have often agreed to take part in initiatives organized by Clay Paky, such as tutorials at previous editions of LDI.” Among the local speakers, Del Mastro was highly prominent, given his role as technical manager for two production companies devoted to Buenos Aires productions of popular musical. (His work extends to Spain, as he introduced Clay Paky units into the Madrid production of

Beauty and the Beast

). Del Mastro’s most recent productions include

Saturday Night Fever

and

Little Shop of Horrors

, which are both currently running in Buenos Aires. The former makes use of over 60 Clay Paky Stage Line projectors. Clay Paky supplied much of the technical equipment for the event. PSL, the exclusive Clay Paky distributor for Argentina, led by its president Antonio Agra, played a key role in organizing and setting up the Jornadas de Luz e Sonido.
