Bob Weis Design Island Associates Announces Change In Management

Bob Weis Design Island Associates is announcing a change in management.

Bob Weis, president and founder of Design Island, has joined Walt Disney Imagineering in Glendale, California where he will serve as executive vice president, responsible for the continued development of new attractions and facilities at Disney's California Adventure in Anaheim, California.

Tim Steinouer, executive producer of media and interactive exhibits for Design Island, will take over as president of the company, located at Chapman-Leonard Studios.

"Tim has been closely involved in every major project we have produced in the last several years," says Weis, who will remain a partner in Design Island. "He has brought a high degree of excellence and innovation to our media productions and interactive projects and will continue to create the caliber of work our clients expect."

Prior to his work with Design Island, Steinouer was a key member of the commercial production design team for clients including Pepsi, Hershey, Gatorade, Disney, and Visa. His film and television credits include Sony Pictures’ Basic, Warner Bros’ Rosewood, HBO’s From the Earth to the Moon, and television series for ABC, A&E and USA Networks.

For the past seven years, Weis led the company in creating and producing many successful projects. Working with CBS and Anthony Zuiker, the creator of CSI the hit television show, Design Island developed and produced the traveling museum exhibit, CSI: The Experience, now open at the Boston Museum of Science. Other projects include the redesign and media development of the $55 million Top of the Rock, a winner of the Best New NY Attraction, the $80 million Battle Stations simulation for the U.S. Navy, National Harbor, and Action: Adventures in Moviemaking which took Weis to Morocco to record director Ridley Scott and actor Orlando Bloom for the introduction of the museum exhibit.

Design Island also helped develop Disney's PhotoPass.com, an innovative photographic service that starts in the theme park then posts guests’ pictures online for convenient viewing and sharing.

“Along with our close partners D7 Inc., Luna Red, and Emerald Palms, I am confident Design Island will continue to have a great reputation for delivering creative, innovative projects on time and on budget,” says Weis.

“Working at Design Island directly with Bob, I have had the opportunity to be involved in many exciting projects that have been a great match for my interests and skills,” says Steinouer. "Now as I move into the position of running the company, I look forward to continuing the relationships we have established while also creating new ones.”

Steinouer and Weis plan to continue collaborating on film projects. "In Their Footsteps: Lewis and Clark,” a documentary they worked on together is currently airing on public television stations nationwide.
