BLMC2001 Corporate Sponsors

Altman, Apollo, City Theatrical, High End, ETC, LeMaitre, Strand, & Wybron first companies to sponsor scholarship winners

Altman, Apollo, City Theatrical, Compulite, ETC, High End, Lee, LeMaitre, Selecon, Strand, TMB, & Wybron are confirmed (to date) as corporate sponsors for the ninth annual Broadway Lighting Master Classes (BLMC), which will take place in New York City, December 5-9, 2001. These companies have the opportunity to exhibit their cutting-edge theatrical lighting equipment, including luminaires, filters, consoles, dimmers, scrollers, fog, and special effects, during special Manufacturers Showcase sessions throughout the BLMC.

Altman, Apollo, City Theatrical, High End, ETC, LeMaitre, Strand, & Wybron are also the first companies to sponsor students in the second annual "I Want My BLMC" scholarship contest. This unique scholarship opportunity was introduced last year in order to offer more university students and young designers the chance to attend the BLMC. The deadline for applications for this year's contest is October 1, 2001. Winners are selected from hundreds of entries, and judged on letters, essays, and support materials submitted by applicants from around the world.

Tony Award-winning lighting designer Jules Fisher will once again serve as creative consultant and head of the distinguished faculty roster for the BLMC. The faculty includes award-winning designers and top names from the lighting design field. Now in its ninth year, the BLMC features the art and science of theatrical lighting design in four days of classes, lectures, and hands-on demonstrations on a wide variety of topics, from stylistic choices to projections to color, cueing, and other issues of interest to all involved in the lighting industry. Participants will also attend two productions, one of which is followed by a backstage tour and in-depth critique of the lighting design by a lighting professional. The closing event is a brunch and panel discussion about collaboration among the various design disciplines on a production.

The BLMC conference fee of $775 includes four days of classes, a Broadway show ticket (the second show is optional at an additional cost), attendance at the 2001 EDDY Awards, the closing Sunday brunch, and the special Manufacturers Showcase sessions; the BLMC PLUS! fee, which includes an optional automated lighting programming workshop, produced in association with ESTA's Technical Education Committee, to be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2001, for an additional $195.

There are also discounts for members of ESTA, PLASA, USITT, TEA, IATSE, IALD, ALD, and members of theatrical education associations worldwide; schools sending two or more students will receive special prices.

The Broadway Lighting Master Classes are produced by Lighting Dimensions and Entertainment Design, Intertec Publishing, 32 West 18th Street, New York, NY 10011-4612.
