announces its second seminar of the season: “Theatrical Lighting as Applied to Architectural Lighting Concepts and Designs,” featuring Paul Gregory, principal of Focus Lighting Inc. The seminar will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at 7pm at Fordham University, Pope Auditorium, at 113 W. 60th Street (Corner of Columbus Ave. and 60th Street).
Gregory’s philosophy of design reflects his belief that a sense of drama and theatre is inherent in successful architectural projects. Trained in theatrical lighting at the Goodman Theatre School of the Art Institute of Chicago and in architectural lighting design at the Parsons School of Design, Gregory spent a number of years designing lights for regional theatres such as Alley Theatre, StageWest, and the Goodman Theatre before founding Focus Lighting in New York.
At Focus Lighting, Gregory has spent the last eighteen years revealing and highlighting architecture by “painting pictures with light." Recent projects include the Toys ‘R’ Us Flagship store in Times Square, Tribeca Grand Hotel, The Mohegan Sun Casino Phase I, Le Cirque Restaurant, to mention just a few in a long list of award winning designs. He has received multiple Lumen Awards as well as the IALD, Waterbury, ASID Awards, and Lighting Dimensions International “Lighting Designer of the Year” Award.
