Massachusetts-based lighting design firm Available Light announces its latest expansion plans: Abhay Wadhwa, IES, ISLE has joined the Available Light team. As their newest principal designer, Wadhwa has also been tasked with opening a new office in New York City. In his leadership role Wadhwa joins Bill Kadra, principal designer of the Entertainment Lighting Division, and Steven Rosen, founding principal & president of Available Light.
“Abhay and I have been great friends and colleagues for years,” says Rosen. “This is a fantastic opportunity to partner with him on new projects and to develop our burgeoning New York and International market. Wadhwa has over a decade of lighting design experience—enhancing architecture through lighting both in the US & worldwide. As lead lighting designer, his projects show great diversity—ranging from museums and historic preservation to hospitality, transportation and residences. Prior to joining Available Light, Wadhwa plied his talents at Ripman Lighting Consultants in Boston and at Domingo Gonzalez Associates (DGA) in NYC. Abhay trained as an architect at Sir JJ College of Architecture in Mumbai, India and holds a Master of Science in Lighting from the Lighting Research Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Among his many prestigious industry awards, Wadhwa’s GE Edison Award for his work (while at DGA) re-lighting the George Washington Bridge has put him in the national spotlight. Wadhwa has authored technical papers on lighting of historic buildings, energy policies and regulations, and fiber optic lighting systems.
