Aphex & Pure Launch Remodeled Mic Preamp

Pure Distribution, a division of Stirling Audio, is exhibiting at this year’s PLASA show with the US manufactured Aphex range of processors and in particular the upgraded 1788, the remote controlled microphone pre amplifier.

The 1788 is a 2u rack mounted unit, eight-channel remote controlled microphone preamplifier. The upgrade includes Ethernet connection, which has increased the speed of the system sixteen times, making it simpler to operate with even more impressive results. The new model will supersede the existing 1788 and upgrade kits for existing units will be available.

Aphex President Marvin Ceasar, who is visiting PLASA for the first time explains: "The software and hardware upgrades enhance this well loved device, and turns the 1788 into an even more powerful and effective live mixing tool. It now boasts instant access to all 128 channels and full display of all these channels at a glance."

The first major use of the upgraded 1788 will be at The Wall of Hope 2004 concert in China on September 25th. There has never been a concert staged at the Great Wall, so for performing artists such as Cyndi Lauper, Boyz II Men, Al Jarreau, and Alicia Keys it is sure to be a extraordinary experience. Commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Great Wall restoration project, proceeds will go to the China Children and Teenagers' Fund.

Ninety-six channels of 1788 microphone pre amps will be put to use that night, feeding the digital and analogue recording trucks as well as the front of house and monitor mix.
