AKG Acoustics US Names Torlone Market Development Manager

Nashville, TN-based AKG Acoustics, US (www.akgusa.com ) has appointed Mike Torlone, a 30-year veteran of the audio scene, to the position of market development manager, studio. AKG Acoustics, US is a division of AKG Acoustics GmbH of Vienna, Austria, manufacturer of microphones and headphones. AKG Acoustics is part of the Harman International group of companies.

Torlone has worked on all sides of the professional and consumer audio industries, including sales, marketing, and product management as well as having owned a retail store. "With his numerous years of experience in the industry, Mike's tremendous knowledge and expertise will further elevate the quality of AKG's relationships with dealers, distributors, studios, broadcast networks, and with our sales representatives," said Doug MacCallum, AKG Acoustics, US vice president and general manager. "We are very pleased to have Mike on our team."

Torlone comes to AKG from Starin Marketing, a manufacturers representative firm covering several Midwest states, where he served as a regional manager. Prior to working at Starin, he spent 13 years with Electro-Voice and EV/Telex as market development manager and regional sales manager. For 10 years, Torlone owned Wheeling Sound, a high-end consumer audio store in Wheeling, WV.

Torlone holds a BA degree in journalism and speech from Marshall University, and has been a musician since 1964. He will be overseeing the broadcast and recording markets within AKG's US business and will be responsible for new product development and the segment's market development.
