Abe Jacob Announces Final BSMC Schedule

Abe Jacob, creative consultant and faculty chair of the Broadway Sound Master Classes, has released the final schedule for this year's event, to be held June 26-29 in New York City. The faculty for the event includes Tom Clark, Mark Menard, Nevin Steinberg (all of Acme Sound Partners), John Leonard, Chris Cronin, Chris Evans and John Kilgore.

The event will kick off on Thursday, June 26 at 8pm with a performance of the new Broadway revival of Gypsy starring Bernadette Peters at the Shubert Theatre, followed by a post-show discussion with a representative of Acme Sound Partners, sound designer for the production.

On Friday morning, June 27, students will be given a tour of the famous Masque Sound Studios and hear the dean of sound effects, John Kilgore, speak on the creation, maintenance, and long-term storage of effects for the theatre. Students will have the afternoon off for personal time and are then invited to the industry event of the year: The 2003 EDDY Awards, to be held at John Jay Theatre beginning at 7:30. This year's honorees include sound designer Dan Moses Schreier, set designer John Lee Beatty, projection designer Elaine McCarthy, electrician Mike LoBue, Theatre Projects Consultants, and the Mary Zimmerman design team of Dan Ostling (sets), Mara Blumenfeld (costumes) and TJ Gerckens (lights), as well as the lighting, sound, and staging products of the year.

The bulk of classes will be held on Saturday, June 28 and Sunday June 29 at the John Jay Theatre. The schedule is as follows:
